Neurodivergence & Queerness
Many people who are queer are also neurodivergent. ADHD, autism, and other neurodivergencies exist on a non-linear spectrum (we could also call it a ball park!). People cannot be 'more or less' ADHD or autistic, but their autistic or ADHD traits can differ greatly, which can disable them more or less in a world not built for their needs. Queerness & neurodivergence (especially autism) are two spectra that overlap significantly. This means that gender identity and sexuality are more varied among neurodivergent (as compared to a neurotypical/neuro-conforming) people. There are different explanations for this, one being that neurodivergent individuals seem less influenced by social norms and more receptive to their internal experience not matching what they might have been taught externally (by society). This may make it easier for them to perceive and present their internal selves more authentically. Read more.
It's important to recognize that someone's neurodivergence or autism does not invalidate their queerness. As a result of internalized and learned ableism, our society often fails to take autistic people seriously. It is crucial to keep in mind that being autistic and trans or queer are inherent aspects of someone's identity. While these identities may frequently coexist, neither makes the other any less valid.

Note: Personally I am not a fan of any diagnostic assessments. Self-identification as neurodivergent is the future of autism assessment, as Devon Price writes in his article.
