Neurodivergence & Queerness
Many people identify as both queer and neurodivergent. ADHD, autism, and other neurodivergencies exist on a non-linear spectrum (we could also call it a ball park!). People cannot be 'more or less' ADHD or autistic, but their autistic or ADHD traits can differ greatly, which can disable them more or less in a world not built for their needs.
It's important to recognize that someone's neurodivergence or autism does not invalidate their queerness. As a result of internalized and learned ableism, our society often fails to take autistic people seriously. It is crucial to keep in mind that being autistic and trans or queer are inherent aspects of someone's identity. While these identities may frequently coexist, neither makes the other any less valid.
