About me

Hi, I'm Lias - a white, queer, non-binary, and neurodivergent therapist, relationship counsellor, and early stage community organizer.  I offer spaceholding for people who want to work on personal and intergenerational trauma and find their place in community and liberation. I accompany people's processes from a depathologizing, identity-affirming, and anti-colonial lens. You can learn more about my therapeutic approach here.

I grew up in a working-class family in a small village in the Ore Mountains (east of Germany) and believe that the lineages and places we come from hugely impact us. I am, for example, aware of the generational burdens my body carries from the people who came before me and the histories they lived. In their time and place in history, my ancestors have both been subjected to, as well as contributed to harm - and I love holding space for people who resonate with those contradictions within their own ancestry.

Spiritually, I identify as an animist guided by a sense of our interconnectedness with everything that is. I love floating in water (it makes me feel grounded) - and currently, as I am based in Barcelona, floating in the sea (is something that helps me feel free). The mountains and hills are what makes me feel home (I grew up with them), and I am a big fan of all the beautiful creatures that live on this earth (with a special love for insects, medicinal plants, and mushrooms). Besides that, I really enjoy watching period dramas (Bridgerton, of course) and getting sucked into the magic of places where books live (libraries, book shops, or my own home!) ~ and have many more, perhaps ever-changing interests and things that fascinate me in life.

The way I am learning, practising, and "de"-colonizing healing, would in no way be possible without continuously learning from Black, Indigineous, and People of Colour, mad and disabled folks, and anyone else who has been kind enough to share their anti-colonial knowledge, wisdom, intuition, and lived experience with the public through social media, books, spoken word, or with me in my own personal life. This includes public figures such as Ismatu Gwendolyn (Threadings.), Adrienne Maree Brown (Holding Change), Prentis Hemphill, Robin Wall Kimmerer (Braiding Sweetgrass), Tamala Floyd (Listening When Parts Speak), Kelly Hayes & Mariame Kaba (Let This Radicalize You), Bell Hooks (All about Love), Micha Frazer-Carroll (Mad World - The Politics of Mental Health), my close friends, comrades, and community (online & offline), and many more. All I know is based on what I know and have learned from all of them.  Because of their generosity, I am able to grow beyond socialized whiteness, individualism, and racial capitalism.
