I used to say: "What does it mean to queer your therapy practise? Well, to me, it means to question everything you've ever learned! Question the societal and cultural norms you've been raised with, question what you learned at grad school, therapy trainings, and from your Western supervisors. Question your biases, your assumptions, your pathologizing views on disorders, neurodivergence, and anything else that departs from what you believe is 'normal'."
Now, I am aware that what the core of this meant decolonizing therapy, and this journey goes so much deeper than intellectually trying to "queer" and deconstruct what you feel you know. My decolonizing journey is bodily and intense, as it revolts against everything Western imperialist teaching tried to indoctrinate into my soul. It is a process I am happily on, and a process I will continue throughout the course of my bodily existence on this planet.
