What  are some concepts that may guide the sessions?

1. Queerness, Neurodiversity, & Anti-Colonial Cuteness
Queerness as in questioning, deconstructing, and queering all systems of oppression. Neurodiversity as in welcoming the diversity in nervous systems, brains, minds, and bodies present in the space. Anti-colonial cuteness as in decolonizing our bodyminds while being kind towards each other & refraining from shaming or cancelling other people for their internalized biases and beliefs.

All in all: growing and healing together, while giving each other grace for mistakes, accountability, and repair!

2. Radical Mental Health 
Radical mental health is all about building supportive communities, empowering one another, and seeing mental well-being in a more holistic way. It invites us to move away from labeling mental health struggles as purely individual problems and instead looks at how bigger systems, like capitalism, can impact our mental health. It’s a compassionate approach that encourages self-discovery and collective healing, helping us navigate our journeys together with understanding and care.

3. Parts Work & Somatic Practises
Understanding our minds as made up of different "parts" or sub-personalities (each with its own thoughts, feelings, and needs), can help us bring balance to inner and outer conflicts, as well as to foster compassion, kindness, care, curiosity, and connection within ourselves and with others. Using parts work, we’ll explore our thoughts and feelings together as a group, gaining a deeper understanding of our own inner worlds and those of the people around us. Combined with somatic practises, this can help us to allow ourselves to connect with our emotions and have them flow and released through our bodies.

4. Animism & Spiritual Grounding
Animism invites us to recognize the spiritual significance and consciousness in all aspects of the natural world—animals, plants, and even inanimate objects. Through an animist lens, we can deepen our sense of connection not just with other people, but with everything around us. This perspective helps us see the world as alive and interconnected, fostering a profound sense of belonging and spiritual awareness.

5. Ancestral Awareness & Rituals 
Recognizing the pain of our ancestors - both those who are still with us and those who have passed - can play a powerful role in our own healing. We all carry some form of ancestral or intergenerational trauma, the emotional echoes of our ancestors’ experiences passed down through generations. But like any trauma, this too can be healed. By fostering positive relationships, engaging in meaningful rituals, and reconnecting with our ancestral roots, we can begin to heal these wounds and break the intergenerational cycles of harm in our families.
